The Text Adventure Special

Remember text adventures? I want to get into those, I never really had much interest in the 80's.

WinFrotz lets you play Z-Machine compatible text adventures in Windows. Nearly all Zork games are Z-Machine compatible. There are hundreds of data files available. Play through all those in a year and I'll buy you a steak.

An interview with Howard Sherman, probably the only person commercially producing text adventures these days.

The Interactive Fiction Archive. This has probably every text adventure you could possibly imagine on it, as well as lots of the emulators and tools you need to play them.

A review of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy text adventure. I'm trying to track down a copy of it, anyone got it? It's on the Apple II.

The Z-Machine technical specifications for the truly techie.

Thanks Dave! Excellent!

I don't run or use Java, so it didn't work for me, but trawling the source reveals this Z machine file which you can download and play in any Z machine emulator of your choice. (I use 'WinFrotz' the one I linked to in the main post)
